Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles during the civil war. It went on for 3 days. Two armies collided went and north of the town on July 1st. 30 thousand Confederates defeated 20 thousand Yankees. On July 2nd the union had 90 thousand soldiers and the confederates had 70 thousand soldiers. The confederates gained ground, but the union held strong positions. The 3rd and final day of the battle there was a battle by 12 thousand confederates against the center line. Was grate loss to the confederate army as many as 51 thousand soldiers form both sides were either killed, wounded, captured, or missing in the 3 days of battle.
